The Strand Hotel’s new boutique accommodation redefines the classic pub-stay experience with a distinctly contemporary edge. Set above the revitalised heritage hotel in the heart of Darlinghurst, the rooms are designed as calm, refined retreats that balance urban character with considered comfort. Each space draws on the building’s original fabric while introducing a quiet, modern palette of natural materials, warm lighting, and crafted details. Our approach focused on elevating the guest experience within a compact footprint, ensuring every element performs with clarity and purpose. Bespoke joinery maximises storage, while integrated lighting and acoustic treatments create a sense of calm despite the building’s lively inner-city setting. Minimal but tactile finishes—linen, timber, stone—deliver a boutique feel that feels both understated and enduring. The design connects seamlessly to the wider Strand Hotel offering. Guests transition from the energy of the ground-floor bistro and rooftop bar to intimate, thoughtfully-scaled rooms that offer privacy, comfort, and a hint of Darlinghurst grit. The result is accommodation that feels timeless, welcoming, and unmistakably local—an elevated stay that complements the Strand’s renewed identity as a contemporary neighbourhood landmark.
